As in the preschool program, education continues in the elementary level through spontaneous interaction with an environment that addresses the changing developmental needs of the child. There is freedom of both speech and movement in exchange for the responsibility and self-discipline that must accompany this freedom. There is an expectation on the child to complete basic areas of work in all core curriculum areas. Children are allowed the independence to work at their own level but with the acceptance of responsibility for completing tasks.

The Montessori elementary program continues the development of the child as an enthusiastic, life-long learner and problem-solver. The supportive environment encourages children of this age to become competent, responsible and adaptive citizens of society who take responsibility for themselves, for others and for the world around them.
